[TechRepublic] Google creates entrepreneur day, ends IE8 support for Apps

TechRepublic Australia Wrapper

TechRepublic Member | September 19, 2012

Editor's note
Hello again, this is the Wrapper for another week. Google has decided to end its official support for IE8 in its Apps properties, and will show upgrade banners to IE8 users to move them on to one of the supported browser options. Cue the cynical thoughts wondering how many will be for Firefox rather than Chrome. I got the chance to have a few hours with a slate tablet running Office 2013 during the TechEd conference last week, and I saw a potentially pen-driven future. Armed with a stylus and a slate, no document in Windows 8 will be safe from rudimentary circling and illegible handwritten notes. For mouse users who still have a lingering distaste for the ribbon, at least the ribbon can be hidden away in 2013. Until we meet again, have a great week. --Chris
