[TechRepublic] Windows 8 set for October arrival

TechRepublic Australia Wrapper

TechRepublic Member | July 11, 2012

Editor's note
It's been an interesting week on TechRepublic, no doubt about that. Beginning on Tuesday afternoon, the site was put into read-only mode as we migrated our servers from San Francisco to Phoenix. Everything should be back to normal now, so please let us know if you spot anything amiss. While all that fun was going on, actual fun was being produced and consumed at the Imagine Cup finals that were held in Sydney. The Ukrainian entry took out the cup with their set of sign-language-to-speech gloves. Check out the gallery below to see many of the cool projects the students worked on. Microsoft's top-secret Windows 8 release date was narrowed down to one week in October. No official word has been heard on when the builds will appear on TechNet/MSDN, but it is expected to follow shortly after RTM in August. That's all for this week. Next week the Wrapper will be in the hands of Brian, the lapsed quizmaster and a man for whom no pun is too far of a reach -- no pressure Brian. See you in a fortnight --Chris
