[TechRepublic] Microsoft offers $40 Windows 8 upgrade

Editor's note We lead off this week with news that Microsoft will sell upgrades to Windows 8 for only $40. However I find it more interesting that many of the comments on the article are concerned with being able to upgrade, and then downgrade to Windows 7, from the earlier versions. Locally, the BSA is offering a $20,000 reward for dobbing in software pirates. Make sure you check out the Microsoft.com preview web site at the bottom of that article for an excellent example of how adaptive frameworks can and should work. There's a nice conversation happening on whether the leap second added over the weekend impacted any of the computers you work with. The combination of Java and Linux appears to have been a recipe for disk thrashing.
