Adding new features to Linux has not affected core performance

Adrian Kingsley-Hughes: Phoronix has published the results of a series of benchmark tests on the past five years worth of Linux kernels, from Linux 2.6.12 through to Linux 2.6.37 (dev) releases. The results show that on the whole, new features have not bloated the OS or hit performance.

Skyfire for iPhone - It came, it didn't work, it evaporated

Adrian Kingsley-Hughes: Yesterday Skyfire, the browser that bought Flash video to the iPhone, made an early appearance in the Apple iTunes App Store. I paid my $2.99 and downloaded the app which promised to take Flash video and transcodes it into HTML5-compatible H.264 format, but due to overwhelming demand, I never got it to work.
